Jeanne Bourgon

Director

Of French-Swedish origin, Jeanne Bourgon has a university education in ecology. After a career in environmental consulting for local authorities, she spent ten years at the Midi-Pyrénées Region, in charge of regional sustainable development projects. In 2013, she joined the Zooms Verts collective and started making documentary portraits while studying for a Master's degree in film-making at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Audiovisuel in Toulouse (ENSAV). 

In 2017, she completed La terre et le lait, a collection of portraits of cheese producers (4x 26 mn).

She is currently working on her new project for television with Gégé le Prince, a new co-production SaNoSi Productions - Les Zooms Verts.

La terre et le lait is a collection of four portraits of men and women who have chosen a life based on natural rhythms. They have voluntarily embarked on an often solitary journey, fraught with constraints and difficulties. Each of these portraits shows the use these people have made of their freedom and their daily struggles. They also reveal a unique balance between a territory and the people who live there. A balance that raises the question of how agriculture and consumption patterns are changing.

Their life is devoted to their work and to their family, which lives five months a year around the chalet at an altitude of 1700m.

France - 2017 - 28 min - Original French version Miren is a Basque shepherdess. She raises 2 children and a flock of 170 ewes by herself. This portrait of a woman who is both rooted and free follows the seasons, from the confinement and hard work of winter to the beauty and lightness of summer. Despite the doubts and difficulties, it shows the success of a form of agriculture that still respects cycles and the living world.
